Then she had an awesome day at school. In assembly she received a merit certificate for being thoughtful to others and also got a $60 gift voucher for the mall because she had sold the most boxes of chocolates in the middle syndicate for their fundraiser competition. (Actually *I* sold all those boxes of chocolates... took them into work where there are plenty of teenage boys wanting chocolate every day!). When I picked her up we went up the mall and got her ears pierced as her birthday present from Mummy and Daddy. Then we popped into Smiggle - her favorite shop at the moment, full of all sorts of stationary in bold colours. She bought a few purple things (her favourite colour) with some of her birthday money.
Back at home we had homemade pizza for dinner because it's her favourite. So she had a lovely day full of good things happening for her and lots of her favourites
Then on Saturday she had her baptism. In our church children are baptized when they are 8 and old enough to have developed a knowledge of right from wrong. She's been looking forward to it for a long time, knowing that this is a special birthday. We had a lovely service - here is a copy of the program sorry if it comes up teeny tiny - zoom in!).
And I also made this video which we played straight after the baptism itself:
We also managed to have Mom and Dad watching on Skype - even though it was 3am there - it was all Mom's idea though! It all went pretty well, although I hesitate to use the word smoothly! We managed to skip a hymn (my fault), had a bit of a delay getting the video started and a couple of things that we just hadn't thought through, but nothing major, it was all fine over all!
